Naval Academy recently held the Welcoming and Awarding Ceremony for the incoming freshmen of the Officer Class of 2027, NCO Class of 2025, and the Reserve Officer Training Corps. The ceremony was hosted by Captain Wang, the Commandant of Midshipmen.

The freshmen, having completed eight weeks of boot camp, marched proudly through the gate of the Naval Academy, led by the color guard team and accompanied by the resounding marching band. In front of the towering mast, the class flag was hoisted to the masthead by the standard-bearer, followed by the rank insignia and badge presentation ceremony.These rituals symbolize the infusion of new blood into the Navy and the continuation of the anchor chain spirit. With the addition of the class insignia on their shoulders, they bear the weight of responsibility and the empowerment that comes with it.

In his closing remarks, the Commandant drew inspiration from Admiral Nelson's signal at the Battle of Trafalgar: "England expected that every man will do his duty." He encouraged the new students to fulfill their duties diligently and face future challenges bravely. He urged all hand to uphold the values of "Country, Duty, and Honor," to continue to grow and prosper, and to become outstanding naval officers who embody both literacy and military virtues.
